Paulo had told us he'd called a tuk tuk to pick us up for a tour of the ruins. When this guy showed up were were surprised and ultimately delighted.
Our rather taciturn driver, sitting behind us, was astride an old Honda motorcycle. But the front wheel and handlebars had been replaced by the contraption we were sitting in.
It was so great to be tooling along in the open breeze on such a hot hot day. All the noise and exhaust were behind us. The only problem was the brakes. The squeaked and squealed to raise the dead.
Paulo gave our driver very explicit instructions (in Thai) on exactly where to take us and in what order.
He wanted us to save the inner ruins for sunset, when Krista might be able to join us. I was too hot to be properly grateful at the time. It was a fantastic tour!
